Why
I didn’t grow up in one place or one family. I moved through systems, silence, and transitions that left me longing to belong. Finnish and Vietnamese by blood, Dutch by soil, I carried the prayer of sanctuary deep in my bones.Lōkahi is that prayer, made real. It’s the space I needed as a child. A place where care is not conditional. Where beauty and remembrance guide us home. Where every child is safe, every elder is honored, and healing becomes a way of life, not a luxury.More than a project, it’s a movement. A living response to the systems that forget, extract, and divide. Now, we remember. Together.

What we are building
Lōkahi is in its birthing phase and we’re laying the roots with care.
Phase One includes:○ Land scouting in regenerative regions like Portugal, Indonesia, or Southern America.○ Creating minimal yet meaningful infrastructure: eco-integrated lodging, community kitchen, nature-based classrooms, healing spa, and ceremony spaces.○ Launching a pilot retreat that brings together elders, artists, and children. With integrated community programming and shared giving.○ Developing long-term housing and care for children without stable homes. Offering belonging, safety, and creative opportunity from the start.
We are not building another retreat center. We are planting the living blueprint of a new way forward.Honoring the land and the people who call it home. Co-creating, learning from each other, and ensuring local voices and traditions are at the heart of everything we do.Lōkahi is not something we bring to a place, it is something we create with the place and its people.
